Renaud Lavillenie of France has broken Sergei Bubka's 21-year-old indoor pole vault record after clearing 6.16 meters.

Lavillenie cleared the bar comfortably in Bubka's home city, almost to the day the pole vault great achieved 6.15 on Feb 21, 1993.

Lavillenie looked wild-eyed and pumped his arms in delight as he realized he had broken one of athletics' longest-standing records, and was congratulated by Bubka himself, after he stood to applaud.
