MESA, Colo. (AP) — Powderhorn Mountain Resort in western Colorado has closed for the winter season early because of a stretch of unseasonably warm weather.

The ski resort, which closed Monday, was forced to move all of its closing weekend festivities up a week because of a lack of quality snow.

The Powderhorn Strider Snow Cup and Powderhorn Pond Skim events were held over the weekend.

Powderhorn, which was originally scheduled to close March 29, is about 20 miles east of Grand Junction.
