Friday’s Matches Set for Australian Open

When play in the Australian Open resumes Friday evening, U.S. time, the men's top-seed, Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL'), returns to play a third round match. Nadal is matching up with No. 25 Gael Monfils (GAH'-ehl mohn-FEES'). The next highest seed for the men will be No. 4 Andy Murray who is facing 26th-seed Feliciano Lopez.

For the women, second-seed Victoria Azarenka (ah-zah-REN'-kuh) leads the way followed by third-seed Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH'-vah).

In other matches, 13th seed Sloane Stephens of the U.S. is facing a Ukrainian player while unseeded American Donald Young is matched up with a player from Japan.

Once again the forecast is calling for extremely hot weather.
