For the first time in program history, the Colorado Mesa Mavericks are ranked #1 in collegiate baseball.

In the National Coaches Poll released this week in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the Mavericks took over the top spot in the national rankings for the first time ever.

The two schools that had been ranked ahead of the Mavericks, both lost multiple games while CMU extended their winning streak to 15 games with a four game sweep last weekend over Colorado School of Mines. The Mavs improved their season record to 20-2 overall, and 12-0 in conference play.

The Mavericks are in first place in the Mountain Division of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSU Pueblo, at 9-1 is in first place in the Plain Division. Those two teams will meet in Grand Junction the first weekend of April.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks will host New Mexico Highlands this weekend in a four game series. The Cowboys are 9-9 overall, and 3-5 in conference play.Game times this weekend are 6:05 on Friday, a 1:00 double header on Saturday, and a 12 noon game on Sunday. All four games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 1230, and on line at 1230espn.com.
