The Colorado Mesa Mavericks won their fourth straight RMAC title on Sunday despite being rained out against Metro State.

CSU Pueblo lost on Sunday to New Mexico Highlands for the second time this weekend, clinching the RMAC title for the Mavericks, who took two of three from Metro State.

The Mavs won the first game of the series 7-4 as Tyler Ehlers won for the seventh time this season with no defeats. Mitch Robinson homered and Alex Fife and Austin Wallingford each had three hits to pace the Mavericks offense.

Colorado Mesa stumbled in game two of the series, falling 5-4 on Daryl Baca's walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Mavs never led in the ball game, but had tied the score in the top of the 7th inning in their final at bat. The Mavs loaded the based with nobody out, but managed just one run.

In game three, freshman Bligh Madris, (pictured) made his first collegiate start as a pitcher and earned the victory with six innings of work. Madris, who normally plays in the outfield,  took a two-hit shutout into the final inning, but Metro State broke through with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh to knock  Madris out of the ball game.

Senior Kevin Mitchell, who was last week's RMAC player of the week, hit a grand slam home run in the first inning and drove in a total of five runs.

The Mavericks are now 39-6 on the year, 31-4 in the RMAC, and will host Colorado Mines this weekend in the final regular season series of the year. The Mavs will play a pair of double headers - 3:30 and 7:05 on Friday, and 1:00 and 4:00 on Saturday. A fireworks display will be featured following Friday night's game.

The Mavs will host the RMAC tournament beginning next Thursday at Suplizio Field.
