How would you like to be involved in restoring one of the most magnificent sites in the world? Western Colorado's Hanging Lake is overdue for some upgrades and repairs, and your time and skills are in demand. Would you like to volunteer for this amazing project?

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado seeks motivated individuals interested in performing moderate to difficult work involving trail maintenance and restoration. Work involves 1.2 miles of trail from the Hanging Lake Trail to Spouting Rock. Volunteers are needed to perform duties such as:

  • rock work
  • install structures such as check steps
  • build retaining walls
  • install staircases

Why is the work needed? Hanging Lake draws well over 100,000 locals and tourists to the area every summer. Put simply, this site gets hit hard during the busy months. In addition, trails need to be reinforced with natural materials to ensure proper drainage.

You are looking at a two-day commitment. This project will commence on September 9, 2017, and conclude the following day. Work hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Camping is available. Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older.

What's in it for you? Put simply, lunch. The organization will provide lunch. In addition, you'll enjoy the rewards of having worked on one of the most amazing sites Colorado has to offer.

It doesn't get any more magnificent than Hanging Lake. As you may be aware, the area has fallen victim to several rounds of vandalism. Be a part of restoring the trail to its full beauty. Participate with this project by day, have fun in Glenwood at night. Volunteer to participate in the restoration of Hanging Lake.
