Winnipeg Jets Fires Head Coach

Claude Noel (noh-EHL') has been fired as coach by the Winnipeg Jets and replaced with Paul Maurice. The Jets have lost five straight and are 19-23-5 on the season, 10 points out of the final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Noel went 80-79-18 with the Jets after being hired right after the franchise moved from Atlanta before the 2011-12 season.

Maurice had two runs as head coach of the Carolina Panthers in between a two-year stint behind the Toronto bench.
