A former CMU music student with two amazing Grammy wins under his belt will return to Grand Junction for a special concert presentation.

The CMU Department of Music, along with the CMU Alumni Association and Ho'olokahi Polynesian Student Alliance, will present two-time Grammy Award Winner Kelani Pe'a at the Robinson Theatre on November 21, 2019, at 7 p.m.

Earlier this year, Kalani Pe'a, a former music student at Mesa State College (now CMU), won the Grammy for his album No 'Ane'I. That was Pe'a's 2nd Grammy win in three years. He picked up the Grammy in the same category at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards for his album E Walea.

Pe'a, a native of Hawaii, attended Mesa State College from 2001 to 2007, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications. While living in Grand Junction, Pe'a worked as an assignment editor at KJCT Channel 8. When his first Grammy win was announced, his former professors from Colorado Mesa University were quick to send their congratulations.

Kalani Pe'a just won a Grammy for the best Regional Roots Album....Jack Delmore, you can shout to the roof. :) Kalani graduated from CMU. Congrats to him. - Gary R. Smith

Immediately after his win, Pe'a sent this message to his fans via Facebook:

Mahalo! I love you all. - Kalani Pe'a

Here's the bad news. Tickets for the November 21 concert are not yet available. I will keep you posted when they go on sale. In the meantime, mark the date on your calendar. On November 21, make your way to the Robinson Theatre at the Moss Performing Arts Center for an amazing concert with an award-winning graduate.
