In Skateboard Big Air, athletes drop from either a 50- or 65-foot-high roll in, hitting their choice of kicker ramps over an equally long gap, pulling one trick in the air before attempting another off the 27-foot quarterpipe on the other side. It's one of the most challenging and visually impressive events at the X Games, and we were there.

It was a night for history and heartbreak at this year's X Games Skateboard Vert final. Athletes took two wall-to-wall runs across a 60-foot halfpipe, combining technical spins and lip tricks. Judges ranked riders based on aggressive execution, variety, originality, continuity of run, style and degree of difficulty.

The Men's Skateboard Street finals closed out sport competition at X Games Austin 2014, but in the practice session beforehand the final six riders (and the crowd) were surprised by a special guest on the field of play: Tony Hawk.

The best female skaters in the world come together in the Women's Skateboard Street competition, held on the final day of X Games Austin 2014. The women have two runs each in the first and final rounds to impress the judges by pulling tricks off the course's stair sets, manual pads, banks, and ledges. Best score wins.

Twelve riders took to the swoops and slopes of the all-concrete Skateboard Park course on Sunday in a best-run-takes-all battle. In BMX Park, riders are judged on the aggressive execution of maneuvers, difficulty, variety, continuity, originality, style, and amplitude (height of airs), and no one disappointed.

Twelve riders tested their skills Saturday on the transition-based, concrete and wood hybrid Park course. The top six were selected for the final based on degree of difficulty, variety, height, distance and execution of tricks, as well as continuity of run, originality, and stylish use of the entire course.

It was an exciting day for RallyCross at Austin's Circuit of the Americas. The event featured 20 drivers competing on a narrow, mixed-surface course including asphalt, dirt, jumps and other obstacles. For the 10-lap final, the six best drivers faced off with the top three earning the coveted X Games medals.
