A long-time Grand Junction business is closing its doors for good.

After 102 years in Grand Junction, Sutherlands is closing.

Signs at the store and on their website and Facebook page indicate they have "lost our lease" and "everything must go". The signs indicate 20% off everything in the store as they begin the process of liquidation. There has not been any indication of when the final day of business will be.

Reaction to the announcement has been mixed on social media from long-time shoppers who are shocked at the closing, to less emotional reactions from people who weren't regular customers.

The closing is another blow to Grand Junction and to the Mesa Mall area in particular which has seen the closings of big stores like Sears and Herbergers. Hopefully, another tenant will move into the building soon and we won't have another depressing empty building to look at.
