The Super Bowl means super DUI enforcement in Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol is increasing their DUI enforcement this Sunday (Feb. 4) for the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl means a lot of parties involving celebratory drinking for the win and also drinking away the pain of the loss. Here are some of the repercussions for drinking and driving according to the Colorado State Patrol:

  • Lose your license
  • Spend up to a year in jail
  • Get fined over $13,000

There are a lot of different ways to make sure you don't drink and drive. If you know you'll be drinking, get a ride with a friend to the party, or take a Lyft, Uber, taxi or bus.

If you're set on driving to and from the party, then don't drink. You can opt to drink the non-alcoholic drinks at the party. If you are the host of the party, keep your eye on your guests. According to KJCT, if your guest causes an accident:

If they cause an accident you could be liable for overserving them.

Be careful on the roads this Super Bowl Sunday and no matter what, don't drink and drive.
