A couple of pitchers have a chance to become the first eight-game winner in the majors on the Thursday major league schedule.

Toronto's Mark Buehrle (BUR'-lee) gets the first crack at it. He'll go to the mound at Boston this afternoon sporting a 7-1 record and 2.11 ERA.

If Buehrle can't get it done, then the Dodgers' Zach Greinke (GREHN'-kee) will get a shot at being the first to eight wins. He goes into tonight's game against the Mets with a 7-1 mark and 2.03 ERA.

LA's Yasiel Puig (yah-SEEL' pweeg) is on a tear, hitting safely in 18 of his last 19 games, batting .408 with seven homers and 23 RBIs during that stretch.

The Chicago White Sox welcome Chris Sale (sayl) back to their starting rotation when they open up a home series against the Yankees. The two-time All-Star has been on the disabled list since April 22 with a flexor strain in his left arm. Sale was 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA in four starts before the injury.

AL Central leading Detroit is back home trying to end a three-game losing streak. The Tigers host Texas and Yu Darvish in the opener.

Thirteen games dot the major league schedule today and tonight.
