Hennepin County prosecutors have filed a second child protection petition in the case connected to Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

The Star Tribune reports the Vikings' MVP pleaded no contest Tuesday to recklessly injuring his 4-year-old son when the boy was visiting Peterson in Texas last May.

County Attorney Mike Freeman's office said the Texas case made it necessary to open a file for each of Peterson's children who live in the Minnesota county, which contains Minneapolis and St. Paul.

There has been no allegation of abuse involving the second child. The petition is a technicality.

The petition means the county is providing child protective case management services to two of Peterson's children. He cannot have unsupervised contact with the second 4-year-old.

Peterson's attorney in Texas didn't comment.
