High school students often have part-time jobs, but those jobs don't always help prepare them for a career they may be interested in. An apprenticeship program is hoping to change that.

The program, CareerWise Colorado Youth Apprenticeships, connects students with businesses who are looking for young employees who want more than just a job.

The apprenticeship program is designed to give students exceptional work experience and prepare them for college. In some cases, the apprenticeships are eligible for college credit.

An open house with information about apprenticeships and representatives from businesses that offer those opportunities is being held at the Workforce Center 512 29-1/2 Road on Thursday, February 16 from 4 p.m.
