Another western Colorado community is exploring the possibility of recreational marijuana when Rifle voters go to the polls this fall.

One by one, slowly but surely Colorado towns are opening the door to recreational pot. Will Rifle be the next?

According to the Post Independent, Rifle residents will get the chance to express their opinion on the subject in this fall's municipal election. It's a non-binding question, which means the Rifle City Council can do whatever it wants with recreational pot regardless of how the vote turns out.

However, the vote will give city leaders a good sense of how Rifle residents feel about having recreational pot sold in the city. Rifle currently has five medical marijuana dispensaries that could be licensed to also sell recreational pot.

Currently, it's not illegal to possess recreational marijuana in Rifle, but it is illegal to sell it. Do Rifle residents want to see that policy changed? In just a few months we'll know how they feel about it.
