Colorado’s Rabbit Ears Peak Lost an Ear Over Winter

Just like a chocolate Easter Bunny, Rabbit Ears Peak has lost one of its ears. Take a look at what it looked like just a few short years ago, compared to how it looks now. 

This view, from 2017 shows the once-thick west ear looking much thinner these days. Compare it to the picture below, from 2014, and you can see where Mother Nature has taken a bite from the ear. Not like Mike Tyson took a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear, of course, but it is noticeable.

Erosion has made portions of the rock crumble and fall away, leaving the pointy and much thinner portion behind. From the road, you can see the difference with the naked eye. Other formations worldwide are facing the same issue. Time and elements are slowly eroding these landmarks. Get out and enjoy them while you can!
