The National Football League kicks off a new season tonight with the Super Bowl champion Seahawks entertaining Green Bay.

This is the first meeting of these clubs since the controversial win by the Seahawks two years ago. In that game, Golden Tate caught the game winning touchdown on the final play. The touchdown call was made by replacement officials and the ruling helped lead to a resolution between the league and the regular officials and a new contract.

This marks the second time in four seasons the Packers are playing in the season opener.

A year ago the Seahawks won the NFL Championship with a final record of 16-3 while the Packers were 8-8-1.

The game features some of the big names of the game with Aaron Rodgers still behind center for the Packers, handing the ball off to running back Eddie Lacy. The game also marks the debut for new Green Bay linebacker Julius Peppers, who has joined the Packers after four seasons with Chicago.

For the world champs, Russell Wilson is back at quarterback with Marshawn Lynch in his backfield. On defense the 'Hawks return cornerback Richard Sherman who leads the NFL with 20 interceptions since 2011.
