Grand Junction will be getting at least one new big apartment complex in the coming year.

Construction will begin soon on a 196-unit apartment complex in Grand Junction. The new complex being developed is called The Railyard at Rimrock and will be built south of the Rimrock Marketplace on Base Rock Street and American Way.

According to their press release, the development will include seven 28-unit buildings housing studio, one, two, and 3-bedroom units with attached and direct access garages. Leasing is set to begin the summer or fall of 2020.

There's no word from Perry Reid Properties, the developer of the project, what the rental rate will be on the apartments.

I've often wondered what might be developed in that big, empty area south of Walmart and American Warehouse Furniture. A housing project makes a lot of sense for convenience from the tenants' perspective. You're within walking distance to the Rimrock Marketplace and a short drive to all of the shopping and restaurants on Grand Junction's west end.

It will be interesting to see what other new developments come to Grand Junction in the new year whether it be new housing projects, restaurants, or retail stores. It feels like progress.
