The rider of a motorcycle died of injuries sustained when hit by a car at the intersection of Patterson and 2912 Roads on Friday evening.

The initial police report says the motorcyclist was travelling east on Patterson  around 6 p.m. when a car heading west attempted to make a left turn onto 2912 Road in oncoming traffic. The rider of the motorcycle was unable to avoid the car and crashed into it.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital but died of injuries received in the crash. Police say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The Grand Junction Police Department is continuing their investigation into the crash including the possibility alcohol or drugs may have been a contributing factor. No citations were issued following the crash as it is an open case. Police will have further details once the investigation is complete.
