A pair of teams looking to earn a spot in the NHL playoffs are facing off tonight in New York as the Rangers face the Coyotes.

Phoenix starts the day holding down the final berth in the West with 79 points while the Rangers are sixth in the East, two points in front of Detroit and Toronto, who are tied with 80 points for the final two spots.

Dallas is two points back of the Coyotes for that eighth spot in the West, and tonight the Stars are home to Winnipeg.

San Jose is battling St. Louis and Anaheim for the top-seed in the West, and tonight the Sharks are playing at Calgary. San Jose has an even 100 points while the Blues stand in first with 103 while the Ducks have 99.

The leading team in the East is Boston with 103 points, and the Bruins are home to Montreal tonight.

The final two games feature the Kings skating at Philadelphia and the Senators at Tampa Bay.
