Making Alcohol In Jail Gets Garco Inmates In More Trouble

Two Garfield County Jail inmates are facing new charges after trying to make alcohol while behind bars.

Ykezio Sullivan, age 22 and Joe Archuleta, 19 are now looking at felony charges after a bag filled with water, cinnamon, and pieces of bread were found in their cell.

Sullivan is in jail for attempted kidnapping in Rifle last June as well as a sexual assault case and threatening a witness and Archuleta for assaulting his girlfriend, in addition to consuming marijuana with a 12-year-old girl and breaking and entering a home in Silt, then throwing a party in it.

Sheriff deputies found that Archuleta had purchased cinnamon candy from the commissary and Sullivan had attempted to bring food into the cell. The sugar in the candy and the bread yeast are can be fermented and turn into alcohol.

Archuleta denied knowing anything about the "hooch" as it is called while Sullivan decided to not discuss the matter.

Archuleta, in jail since February has a $9,000 bond while Sullivan's bond is $110,000 and has been incarcerated since last August when he was arrested in Idaho and returned to Garfield County.
