Chris Johnson has picked a new NFL team.

The New York Jets have signed the former Titans running back, nine days after he was officially released by Tennessee.

Johnson is one of just six players to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons, including 2006 yards in 2009. But he had just 1,077 yards last season, the second-lowest total of his career.

Also in the NFL:

— The Green Bay Packers have worked out a new contract with backup quarterback Matt Flynn, who returned to the team midway through last season. Flynn threw for 1,146 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions in five games in 2013 with Green Bay, including four starts after Aaron Rodgers injured his collarbone.

— The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Sidney Rice have agreed to terms on a deal. Rice is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in October.

— A person familiar with the deal says quarterback Josh Freeman has agreed to terms with the New York Giants. Freeman was released by Tampa Bay last October before signing with Minnesota and appearing in just one game for the Vikings.

— Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly is planning to spend this weekend at home in suburban Buffalo before returning to New York City to resume treatments for sinus cancer. Dan Kelly says his brother is doing "pretty good," and has felt particularly better the past two days since beginning chemotherapy on April 8.
