Jackson Cut by Redskins After NFL Reinstatement
After a drug suspension of more than 20 months, Tanard Jackson's return to the Washington Redskins lasted less than a day.
The Redskins late Tuesday terminated the contract of the veteran safety, just hours after he was reinstated by the NFL.
Jackson was suspended indefinitely without pay in August 2012 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. It was his third drugs-related suspension, and it came a few months after he signed a one-year contract with the Redskins.
Jackson was required to sit a minimum of one year before applying for reinstatement. He ended up missing both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but he remained under contract to the Redskins.
