Colorado has been making strides towards reducing I-70 traffic. In addition to the possibility of Bustang routes to the ski resorts, CDOT has started on the Westbound I-70 Mountain Express Lane Project, which will add a toll 'express' lane for traffic coming from Denver towards the ski areas.

A few years ago, CDOT similarly added an eastbound toll lane that spans 13 miles near the Eisenhower Tunnel, but it is only in use on weekends and holidays. Now, westbound traffic will also have one.

Unlike in the Eisenhower Tunnel, don't hold your breath, because it won't be completed until 2021, Sky-Hi News reported.

CDOT says that express lanes will clear 750 to 900 cars from I-70, which will make ski-season traffic a little less painful. How much will it cost? See more from CDOT here.

For everyone else, there is always Eldora.
