A road embankment collapsed recently in Rifle near Rifle Falls State Park. The northbound lane on a section of Highway 325 is now closed.

Friday morning (July 12) a section of a road in Rifle collapsed. The road embankment on Highway 325 gave out just about two miles north of Rifle Gap Reservoir, according to the Post Independent.

The road looks like a section was literally broken off and big chunks of asphalt are sliding off the edge of the road

CO 325 is partially closed and drivers should expect short delays with single-lane alternating traffic, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation's Facebook.

CDOT also stated on their Facebook that a CDOT engineering team will assess the damage of the road and come up with reconstruction plans.

As far as the rest of the road goes, this highway will be monitored for structural integrity/safety.
