Have you witnessed Grand Junction bicycles being handcuffed to area bike racks? What did these bikes do to deserve this?

There you are, minding your own business as you head to the store to shop for groceries, and suddenly you see a bicycle handcuffed to the bike rack outside the store. What did the bike do? What did the bicycle rider do? Is this a prank?

Is this simply the "poor man's" way of securing their bike while they shop?

As it turns out, no.

This is the method Grand Junction police and park patrol officers use to secure their bikes. When you think about, it makes sense. It's practical, effective, and kind of cool.
