Governor Polis Loosens ‘Last Call’ Order to 11 p.m.

At a press conference on Friday, August 21, Governor Polis announced that he's giving Colorado bars and restaurants an extra hour to serve alcohol.

Many bars and restaurants are struggling to keep their doors open through the COVID-19 pandemic while balancing the health of their employees and customers. The Governor's order in July, which required the last call for beverages be at 10 p.m., may have been necessary to stop the spread of the virus, but it still hurt establishments who rely on keeping customers in their seats for as long as possible.

At a press conference, Polis extended the 'Last Call' for restaurants and bars that serve alcohol to 11 p.m. for 30 days, as the initial 10 p.m. order was set to expire on Friday, August 21. The new order will begin on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

He stated that Colorado is 'doing better' in regards to the spread of COVID-19, but that should not mean that people should get too comfortable in thinking that the virus is 'going away.'
