The Garfield County Sheriff's Department has issued a warning about potentially hazardous water bottles in the Roaring Fork River.

A number of suspicious bottles have turned up so far in Eagle, Garfield, and Pitkin counties and authorities say the bottles are "corrosive, flammable, and hazardous to human health."

In most cases the bottles have been filled with blue or purple liquid and a "paper-like" substance and it's suspected the bottles' contents are used in the making of meth. So far there is no indication that bottles have been found in the Colorado River.

If anyone finds one of these bottles, easily identifiable by the shroud of duct tape encapsulating each one, they are asked to note the location of the bottle, contact authorities, but  cautioned not to touch, move or open the bottles.
