It is tough for bettors to have to watch other states around the country get the opportunity to place wagers, while it is not allowed in some places.

As of May 1, though, Colorado is in on the party. The state became the 19th around the U.S.A. to go live with legalized betting on sports, with four more states (plus D.C.) on the way.

FOX Bet Colorado is the fifth to go live in Colorado (which now has 17 licensed betting apps in Colorado) on Tuesday.

There is hope that the return of sport comes at a key time for Colorado bettors. Last week, the UFC had three different fight cards, culminating in Saturday night’s event, while NASCAR, golf, and the German Bundesliga (as well as a few other leagues) all played on the weekend, with more soccer leagues across Europe scheduled to return in the coming weeks.

But of course, everyone is also watching to see what will happen with Major League Baseball, the NHL, and the NBA. The Denver Nuggets lost last season in the Western Conference Semifinals to Portland in seven games, and sit a game and a half back of the Los Angeles Clippers for the second seed in the Western playoff race.

Colorado’s best hope for a title this season could come from the Avalanche, who currently has the second-most points (92) in the Western Conference, just two points back of the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues. Only two teams in all of the NHL have more points than Colorado, and with the new 24-team playoff plan that has been talked about, the Avs could be in prime position to take advantage of the break to bring home a title.

Baseball is still up in the air, but the return for the Rockies could come in July, while the NFL is on course to begin in September as usual.

All of this is great news to the sportsbooks, and to bettors, across Colorado.

"By September 2020, the state could see more than $20 million in revenue, of which approximately $15 million would come from mobile, provided that the sports are up to the same level as ‘before COVID-19’” Alexander Kostin of AmericanGambler.com said. “This is derived from a comparison with Indiana which is similarly sized, also has pro sports, and has gotten mobile correct.

“According to our data, an average stake for the first time sports bettor in Colorado now is circa $350. UFC was the biggest betting event so far.”

The FOX Bet app will also make use of FOX’s multimedia empire to give bettors more insight from knowledgeable sources, such as former Denver Broncos Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe.

“Bronco Country and Colorado sports fans hold a special place in my heart and mind,” said Sharpe, a FOX Bet ambassador and co-host of FS1’s SKIP AND SHANNON: UNDISPUTED. “Now that FOX Bet is at your fingertips in Colorado, we are primed to make a big splash and enhance the sports viewing experience.”

For new bettors, FOX Bet Colorado has some very good offers. New customers get a $500 Risk-Free Bet and a $500 Deposit Bonus (Promo Code & Bonus Conditions here), while the site also has some of the best Bet Boosts in the business, across all sports.

FOX Bet also welcomes Colorado-based sports fans to the platform with an exclusive offer: get $10 free every time Denver wins when you bet on them to have a winning season.

One of the first few events available is everyone’s new favorite soccer league, the Belarus Premier League. While almost all of the other countries and sports were shuttered through late March and April, teams across Belarus were still playing.

Wednesday, the two teams that will meet Sunday at noon in the Belarusian Cup Final will face off in the league for the top spot in the table. Later that night, NASCAR will hold its Darlington Toyota 500 (FOX, 5:30 p.m. MST), just a few days after Kevin Harvick raced to victory in the much-hyped return to racing Sunday.
