Last weekend, six high school teams from Western Colorado were in football playoff contention, hoping to advance to the next level and continue their trek towards a championship title. Now, there are only two teams left from Western Colorado.

Rifle and Paonia are the only Western Colorado teams that remain in the high school playoffs. Western Colorado teams that were eliminated last weekend were Palisade, Delta, Montrose and Meeker.

Paonia has a shot at a state title this weekend as the Eagles compete in the Class 1A championship on Saturday.

Rifle, on the other hand, needs one more win in order to advance to a championship game. The Bears will face off against Fort Morgan Saturday in one of the Class 3A semifinal games scheduled for Saturday.
