Excited for Sports But It Doesn’t Feel Like Opening Day
I have been a major sports fan my entire life and today is opening day for Major League Baseball. I am normally beyond excited to try and watch games all afternoon and evening as we celebrate live sports being back. Even if you're not at a stadium on opening day its fun to eat and watch sports as you cheer on your favorite team. But with everything going on in the world, this year just feels different.
Obviously, no one expected this pandemic and due to COVID-19, there will not be fans in the stadium as the New York Yankees and last year's World Series Champions the Washington Nationals take the field this afternoon. The same will take place as the second game of the doubleheader with the San Francisco Giants taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Tonight some of the best ballplayers in the league will be on display, but there are plenty of other big-time players that have decided that due to COVID-19 they have elected to sit this shortened season out. I understand you have to do what's right for you and your family.
So, we are not going to have all of the best players on the field, but most will be there. And the season will only be 60-games long, that is if they can complete the full season without any other interruptions.
2020 has thrown us some curveballs, and while I am excited to bring out the peanuts and cracker jacks this year just isn't the same. I'm very much looking forward to a full year of sports in 2021, fingers crossed.
Just a reminder the first Colorado Rockies game is tomorrow at 5:05 p.m. in Texas taking on the Rangers.
