The Colorado Avalanche will be without leading scorer Matt Duchene for about four weeks after he hurt his left knee over the weekend.

The loss of Duchene is a blow for the Avalanche, who just clinched their first postseason spot since 2010. He likely will miss the first round of the postseason.

Duchene was banged up on the opening shift Saturday against San Jose when he collided with teammate Jamie McGinn. Duchene fell to the ice and then gingerly skated to the bench.

The 23-year-old Duchene has set career highs this season in points (70), assists (47) and shots (217).

Colorado already lost Alex Tanguay for the season to hip and knee injuries. P.A. Parenteau is sidelined with a sprained knee but may be back for the postseason.
