There are plenty of Grand Junction events that aren't happening in 2020, but it doesn't look like the downtown car show will be among them.

The annual car show in downtown Grand Junction was originally scheduled for the end of June but had to be postponed because of the pandemic. The car show was rescheduled for September, but, with a mountain of uncertainty. We are now a month away from the scheduled date, and there is always the possibility of change. However, as it stands, this event has received approval and is expected to take place as scheduled.

The car show is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 12, and I can't wait. It's always one of the best car shows of the year, and in a year where car shows have been few and far between, this year's downtown car show will be greatly welcomed. However, as you would expect, the car show is going to look a little different.

The biggest difference with this year's car show in downtown Grand Junction is the precise location. Traditionally, Main Street is lined with over 100 classic automobiles from all across the region. This year, the car show will take place in the parking lot of Grand Junction Convention Center, which actually should be a great place to host the event.

The other notable thing is the size of the show. Due to health guidelines and restrictions, car show entries will be limited to the first 80 registrations. Online registration is now open so if are looking for the opportunity to showcase your pride and joy, my best advice is to get registered as soon as possible.

Admission will still be free, but because of COVID guidelines, attendees will nee to register for a free ticket.

While the awards ceremony this year may look a bit different this year, the traditional awards will be given out including Best in Show, People's Choice, and the KOOLest Car in the Show. Get that classic car out of the garage, get it shined up, and let us see it at this year's car show in downtown Grand Junction.
