The second annual Downtown Grand Junction Art Festival will spotlight the arts of Grand Junction in a big way.

For two days, October 6 and 7,  downtown Grand Junction is transformed into one big art gallery featuring artworks, artists, music and more.

The Downtown Art Festival is a different presentation than it was with the long-running Art and Jazz Festival that was held every May for several years, but there is definitely an emphasis on art. The biggest difference is the art is located inside rather than on the street.

More than 30 downtown businesses will be hosting artists and events during the festival which begins Friday afternoon and runs through the day on Saturday.

At various locations, you will find artists at work creating works of art including fiber art and jewelry, oil and acrylic, charcoal, graphite, spray paint and much more.

The Veterans Art Center is having a cool event called "Buried Alive" - which will be of interest to Edgar Allan Poe lovers.

Of course, there will be some music offerings including Wooden Nickle on Friday night, and then Saturday's lineup featuring Navigators, Wave 11, and Five 14.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the installation of the 2017 Art on the Corner temporary exhibit.

.You can spend as much or as little time as you like this weekend in downtown Grand Junction, so stop by and soak in the arts - and offer some support to our local artists.
