UNDATED (AP) — The winners of the American and National League Cy Young Awards will be announced later today. The first award will be the AL version with the NL following about a half-hour later.

The favorites are Detroit's Max Scherzer and LA's Clayton Kershaw.

Scherzer had a dream season for the Tigers, winning his first 13 decisions before finishing with a 21-3 record. He had a 2.90 earned run average as the Tigers got as far as the American League Championship Series. The other AL contenders are Yu Darvish of the Rangers and Seattle's Hisashi Iwakuma.

Kershaw, won the award in 2011, had a Major League best ERA of 1.83. He also had league high 232 strikeouts and a record of 16-9. Contenders are Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals and Jose Fernandez of the Marlins.
