Crews Searching For Missing Man in Rocky Mountain National Park
A 70-year-old man is missing from Rocky Mountain National Park.
James Pruitt of Etowah, Tennessee has been missing since last Thursday. His car was found abandoned near the trailhead of Glacier Gorge in Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park. Pruitt's family was contacted and they haven't heard from him since around 10 a.m. on Thursday.
The Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue team are currently back on the search for Pruitt today, but after this last weekend’s weather the search conditions are less than optimal. There has been more than two feet of reported snow accumulation over the last couple days making the rescue a more challenging situation than many of the previous search and rescue operations encountered. Along with the parks own team they are being helped by Larimer County Search and Rescue Dog Teams, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Diamond Peaks Ski Patrol.
Since the rescue has resumed, the search radius had been expanded to include more of the surrounding area to Glacier Gorge. Bear Lake, an neighboring area in the park, is now an area of concern for the rescue team.
If you have any information that could help the Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team please contact them directly at (970) 580-1204. They are looking to hear from anyone who has been in the Glacier Gorge or Bear Lake area since the beginning of the incident on February 28.
