The Colorado Mesa University’s cross-country teams competed Saturday in the NCAA Division II National Championships. The men’s team finished 18th, while the women were 22nd.

Both the men’s and women’s courses were shortened due to poor course conditions from heavy rains.

In basketball, Colorado Mesa’s men’s and women’s teams split a pair of games on the road.

The Lady Mavericks won Friday’s game against Chadron State 79-65, then went to lose a heartbreaker Saturday to Black Hills State 86-81 in overtime.

Colorado Mesa’s men’s team did things in reverse, losing to Chadron State 64-58, and then went on to soundly defeat Black Hills State 80-58.

Next games for Colorado Mesa basketball is Friday (December 12) and Saturday (December 13) as the Mavericks host Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands at Brownson Arena.
