Colorado Mesa University, formerly Mesa College, celebrated its 93rd birthday yesterday. Every time I drive by that place I see a building that wasn't there a week ago. Check out a brand-spankin'-new dorm from 1949.

Happy 93rd birthday, CMU (April 10). Personally, I've never seen any of the new dorms. For that matter, I've never seen the old dorms. That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

Have you checked out all the new construction? Seriously, every time I pass within a half-mile of CMU there's a building that wasn't there only a few days earlier. This got me thinking. Every building was new at some time.

My dad searched through some of my grandpa, Bob Grant's, old photos. He uncovered photos of a new dorm building at Mesa College dated 1949. That's just a little shy of 70 years ago.

Just looking at the furniture, this new building has 1949 written all over it. You sure can date something by the legs on the furniture. Hey, check out the glass block trimming the door. Looking through the door, is that snow on the ground? Wow, things really have changed.

Happy birthday, Mesa Junior College / Mesa College / Mesa State College / Colorado Mesa University. Wow! In my lifetime I've been around for three of the name changes.
