RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Jordan Staal and Patrick Dwyer each had a goal and an assist, lifting the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night.

It was Colorado's first loss in seven road games this season.

Carolina goalie Justin Peters stopped 33 shots, while Colorado's Semyon Varlamov stopped 26.

Carolina has points in four straight games (3-0-1), all at home, since snapping a five-game losing streak.

Paul Stastny scored his seventh goal of the season for Colorado.

All seven of Carolina's victories this season have been by one goal.

Eric Staal played in his 708th game for Carolina, tying Kevin Dineen for third on the club's all-time list.
