This is the first busy night of play in the NHL since the Olympic break ended, with 12 games on the agenda. Chicago resumes its season tied with St. Louis for first place in the Central Division and tonight the Blackhawks are in New York facing the Rangers while the Blues have the night off.

Metropolitan Division-leading Pittsburgh has a home game with Montreal. The Penguins lead the Rangers by 16 points in the division and the Bruins by four points in the Eastern Conference standings. Boston is tops in the Atlantic Division by eight points over Tampa Bay and tonight the Lightning are at Nashville.

San Jose is starting second-half play with a seven-point deficit in the Pacific Division to Anaheim. The Ducks have the night off while the Sharks are in Philadelphia.

The remaining games tonight have New Jersey at home to Columbus, the Red Wings in Ottawa to play the Senators, the Islanders at home to Toronto, Washington at Florida, the Jets at home to the Coyotes, Carolina at Dallas, the Kings visiting Calgary and Minnesota at Edmonton.
