A choir of African children, ages 7-10 is coming to western Colorado.

Many of the children in the African Children's choir have lost one or both parents to war, famine, and disease.

For the past 20 years, the choir has been traveling around the world performing at places like the Pentagon, the United Nations, Royal Albert Hall in London and Westminster Abbey.

The choir's tour is designed to raise awareness of the needs of destitute and orphaned children in Africa, and to support the African Children's Choir programs. Their musical performance includes well-loved children's songs, hand clapping, traditional spirituals, and contemporary songs. Most performances end with a rousing standing ovation.

You can hear the choir perform Sunday, August 19 10:30 am at the Palisade Church of the Nazarene, and that Sunday evening at 6:00 pm at the New Horizons Foursquare Church in Grand Junction.

The concerts are free, and no ticket is required.
