The small town of Cedaredge, population 2,228, is about to get a whole lot bigger - at least temporarily.

The 42nd annual Applefest takes place this weekend in Cedaredge, a festival that attracts over 250 vendors and 20,000 people. How is that even possible, you might ask. I'm kind of asking the same thing. How can you fit 20,000 people into that small area?

While the event runs Thursday thru Sunday, October 3-6, the main days are Saturday and Sunday, so, it's not like everyone is necessarily there at the same time. But, there is no question about it, Cedaredge is going to be bustling.

Here are some highlights:

THURSDAY
Chili Cook-Off - Serving is 5-8pm

FRIDAY
Concert

SATURDAY
Pancake Breakfast
Applefest 5K Run/Walk
Classic Car & Tractor Show
Stein Holding Competition
Vintage Motorcycles

SUNDAY
Pancake Breakfast
Non-denominational church service
Apple Pie Eating Contest

Of course, there is much more going on, with various activities and events. There is a ton of music throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Honestly, I don't know where people attending the festival park, but, after 42 years of doing this festival, it's obviously not a problem. I do know that admission to the car show is $2 at Pioneer Town and that includes festival parking and a Pioneer Town tour.

If you have never been to Applefest in Cedaredge, it's probably a good idea to go see what it is that's drawing 20,000 people every year.
