The "Four Hottest Days of Summer" are coming up, and the event may literally live up to its name. Country Jam is almost here, and the temperatures will be toasty.

It was known all along the Jam would start out with fairly civil temperatures, only to have the heat cranked up by Sunday. At one point and time, the National Weather Service anticipated Sunday's temperatures to reach 102.

Fortunately, the National Weather Service now anticipates slightly milder temperatures. That's the good news. The bad news... Sunday's temperatures are still expected to hit 100.

Ultimately, the temperature boils down to one thing - the facts of life. It's going to be HOT! Here are a few survival tips from a guy, namely me, who's been out there for 25 years. Here we go:

  • Hydrate! Water is water, Beer is not water. Start hydrating the day before the Jam.
  • Sunscreen is a must.
  • Take advantage of any shade. It's out there. You may have to look for it, but you will find it.
  • There are those who enjoy wearing black. This may be the one time of the year when white or other light colors are more fashionable.

More than anything, have fun. You're already aware the hot temperatures are coming. Be ready and plan ahead. More than anything, have a great time during the "Four Hottest Days of Summer."
