The middle of October means it's great weather for hanging out at a high school football game, bundled up with a hot beverage and cheering for your favorite team.

Here is a look at this weekend's Western Colorado matchups in high school football. All games are Friday, unless otherwise noted.

Grand Junction (1-5) vs Brighton (4-2)
The Tigers will look to bounce back from a 20-7 loss last weekend to Greeley West. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, go for their third straight win including a 56-0 thumping of Niwot last week.

Cheyenne Mountain (5-1) vs Central (1-5)
7:00pm Stocker Stadium - Friday
The Central Warriors have lost three in a row, but get a home game against the tough Indians, who's high powered offense is averaging 32 points per game.

Palisade (3-2) vs Battle Mountain (2-4)
The Bulldogs should be well-rested since their last game September 22 when they edged Delta 36-33. They hope to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when they travel to Edwards to take on the Huskies.

Fruita Monument (6-0) vs Thornton (0-6)
The Wildcats beat Denver South last week 43-15 at Stocker Stadium and take aim at another Denver-area school when they put their spotless record on the line Saturday at winless Thornton.
