Much of Western Colorado will celebrate the 4th of July weekend at Plateau Valley Heritage Days in Collbran.

The population of Collbran will balloon for three days as the tiny Western Colorado town puts on a weekend celebration as only a small town can.

The town will be buzzing July 2 through July 4 with all sorts of events and activities, including a rodeo each night beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the gate for $12, and kids ages 5 and under are free.

But, Heritage Days is much more than just a rodeo.

Sunday features the Running of the Horses at 4 p.m., and a street dance at 9:00 p.m. with No Strings.

Monday is a big day at Heritage Days beginning with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., Cowboy Church at 8 a.m., and a parade at 10 a.m.

There's more fun at 11 a.m. with a gunfight on Main Street, which marks the start of the car show that runs until 5 p.m. There is a duck race at 12:30 p.m. as well as robotics and a kids carnival on Main Street.

The day wraps up with the CPRA Rodeo in the arena, and fireworks at Terrell Park starting at about 9:30 p.m.
