A report from Washington shows the unemployment rate in the United States fell to 3.7%, the lowest it has been since 1969.

Colorado's unemployment rate is 2.9% as of August, and within the state, there are 2,740,500 people employed.

According to the report, the U.S. Government added 134,000 jobs in September, which was lower than expected but can be traced to recent damage from Hurricane Florence.

In Colorado, jobs were added in the hospitality, construction, and transportation as well as utilities and professional and business services. While the 2.9% unemployment rate is slightly higher than the previous 2.7%, more jobs have been added, which allows those who are still unemployed to tap into a job.

Will this kind of job growth be sustainable? Probably not, as those who have been looking for work have found it, so while the information is impressive and positive, it will most likely end up with companies competing for workers instead of workers in competition with other workers for jobs.

The United States and Colorado are experiencing growth in many areas that bode well for the citizens living here.

If, however, you are still looking for a job, start your search with the Mesa County Workforce Center.
