The top-ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks improved their conference record to 16-0 with a weekend sweep of New Mexico Highlands at Suplizio Field, and won a program record 19th straight game.

Colorado Mesa, playing its first series as the #1 ranked team in the nation, swept it's fourth straight series and upped their season record to 24-2.

On Friday, the Mavericks used Kevin Elcock's controversial two-run homer to break a five all tie in the 6th inning and went on to win 8-6. Elcock's home run appeared to curve left of the left field foul pole but was ruled a home run, despite the protest of Highlands head coach Shannon Hunt.

On Saturday, senior Ryan Reno pitched a 3-hit, complete game shut out to lead the Mavericks to a 4-0 win in the second game of the series.

In the second half of the doubleheader, the Mavericks rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to claim an 8-5 come from behind win. After tying the score at 5, Kevin Elcock's three run  homer gave the Mavs a walk off win.

On Sunday, the Mavericks struck for five runs in the second inning and rolled to an 11-2 victory. RMAC Pre-Season Pitcher of the Year, Matt Delay, had his best outing of the season. In five innings of work, Delay scattered 4 hits, allowed just one run while walking one and striking out 9.

With Sunday's win, the Mavericks won their 19th straight game, the longest winning streak in program history. The Mavs now lead Metro State and Colorado Mines in the Mountain Division of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference who are tied at 4-8. Meanwhile, CSU Pueblo leads the Plains Division with a record of 13-1.

Next up for the Mavericks is a road trip to Alamosa to take on Adams State with a 3:00 game on Friday, a noon double header on Saturday, and a 12:00 game on Sunday. Live coverage of all four games can be hear on ESPN Radio 1230 and on line at 1230espn.com.
