The wait is over! Popeye's is finally opening in Clifton.

It's been nearly four months since the news broke that Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen was coming to the Grand Valley, and now the
eatery is ready to start serving up southern style chicken, seafood, and sandwiches.

According to the construction superintendent I spoke to, the Popeye's in Clifton will be open to the public on November 7. However, another source says it will be November 9. The food was to be arriving this week and training of employees was getting underway.

It was reported earlier that there would be a second Popeye's location opening in Grand Junction and one in Fruita, and this seemed to be confirmed by the gentleman I spoke to. Apparently, all three locations have the same owner, but we don't have word on when construction on those will begin.

It has been many years since I have enjoyed a Popeye's meal, and, honestly, I really don't remember anything about it. But, the pictures and their television commercials make the food look so yummy delicious and I can't wait for my first visit to Popeye's in Clifton.

Of course, as you know, with anything new like this, it's going to be crazy busy in the beginning, so if you are going, expect a crowd and be patient. We'll see if the line in the drive-thru is anything like the drive-thru madness when Freddie's opened its first store in Grand Junction.
