Considering the elevation of Colorado, it's not surprising to learn the highest lighthouse in the United States is in Colorado.

What would be surprising to know is that there actually is a real lighthouse in Colorado.

You will find the Frisco Bay Lighthouse on Dillon Reservoir and you won't see it from a great distance. It's only 26 feet tall, compared to the nation's tallest lighthouse. The  Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina stands 193 feet tall.

The lake is at an elevation of 9,017 feet, making the Frisco Bay lighthouse the highest lighthouse in the nation.

You can visit the lighthouse, but, unfortunately,  you can't go inside.

There is another lighthouse in Colorado in the Denver foothills, though it doesn't really qualify as a true lighthouse since it is completely landlocked. But it sure looks like a lighthouse.
