Tonight (July 11), is going to be a near perfect night for stargazing and Montrose area residents are welcome to join the experience.

With clear skies in the forecast, the Black Canyon Astronomical Society has an evening of stargazing tonight.

The event sponsored in part by the Montrose Regional Library is a great opportunity for families to learn about and see the stars and constellations that dot the night sky in western Colorado.

The stargazing will be at Cerise Park in Montrose from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. Head out early with a family picnic and then see the stars from an array of telescopes.

Members of the Black Canyon Astronomical Society will be available to help identify the celestial wonders you are seeing.

Stargazers should be prepared for those annoying summer mosquitoes with the appropriate clothing and insect repellent.
